Word of the Day: Jupa

Costa Ricans will often say "jupa" instead of head in informal situations.

Other informal names for parts of the body are as follows:

nariz (nose) --> trompa
trasero (butt) --> culo (vulgar)
pies (feet) --> cachos (which also means horns/antlers)
boca (mouth) --> pico (which literally means beak, but can also be an informal--and vulgar--way to say penis)

I'll save more for later.

Hi Thomas, I just found your blog - love it! Do you live here now... or are you freezin' your tuchas (what is the spanish for that, pray tell) off in WI? Pura vida, mae.

Glad to hear you like the blog! I live in Madison, but I get back to Costa Rica whenever I get a chance. In fact, I'm currently at an internet cafe in San Rafael de Guatuso. Where do you live?

Tuchas, is that Yiddish? My Yiddish-Spanish translation is not what it used to be.
